Personnel

The Managing Director of Smoy Tuomo Laitinen who started in Smoy in the beginning of 2008. In addition to Tuomo Laitinen the Management Group consists of Tero Meriluoto, Head of Finance, employed by Smoy since 1988, Tauno Rautio, Head of Geo Department, employed by Smoy since 1987 and Tero Laurila, Survey Manager, employed by Smoy since 1980. Drill units are managed by seven drilling foremen and by machine foremen at each drill unit. Tauno Rautio is responsible for geotechnical projects, geophysics, geology and rock mechanics. The Survey Manager Tero Laurila is responsible for the service organisation for the survey equipment and for work sites managed by a survey engineer and by three survey foremen. Smoy's geophysicist participates in planning and implementation of the surveys and is responsible for the data processing. Smoy employs about 165 persons, most of these are experienced professionals with permanent contracts. Smoy has accumulated about 4000 man years of experience in drilling and surveying around the world.

The Board of Directors

The chairman of the board is Peter Zeidler, MSc (mining engineering), born in 1944 and the chairman of Drillcon AB. Other members of the board are Mikael Berglund, BSc (mining engineering), born in 1961 and the CEO of the Drillcon Group and Pekka Mikkola, MSc (mining engineering), born in 1947 and the previous managing director of Smoy.
