Environmental policy of Smoy

The mission of Smoy is to fulfil the needs of its customers to obtain geological samples and survey results describing the ground. A large part of the activities of Smoy take place in the field in a sensitive environment. Smoy pays attention to environmental aspects in its activities and procedures and in their development.

A major part of the activities of Smoy relate to environmental research. Smoy is an expert in contracting services for environmental investigations in the ground.

The environmental goals of Smoy are:

• Increasing and maintaining the environmental awareness of all personnel with the aim of linking environmental aspects to the planning of operations and the economy.
• Directing its subcontracting to suppliers who are committed to observing the procedures set out in the environmental policy of Smoy

Continuous reduction of environmental load from the company’s own activities, e.g. by the following means:

• Minimisation of harmful effects of field activities with special emphasis on prevention and limitation of oil spills
• Saving of energy by using efficient equipment and work methods and by planning transportations carefully
• Reduction of paper consumption by electronic communication and documentation
• Enhancement of the use and recycling of materials
